Nail fungus is a condition that affects both men and women of all ages.

A good friend of mine recently returned from vacation, which she spent by the pool — and unknowingly became a victim of fungus. At first, she didn’t take it seriously, until it began to worsen. Her initial attempts with ointments were unsuccessful.

While visiting her grandmother in the countryside, she learned about a remarkably effective folk remedy that helped her completely eliminate this unpleasant issue. The method is simple, affordable, and the results are truly impressive.

We’ve decided to share this effective home remedy for treating fungal infections.

The method is suitable for both toenail and fingernail fungus.

Treating Toenail Fungus at Home:

This recipe is based on apple cider vinegar and baking soda.

Treating nail fungus with vinegar is already a known remedy for onychomycosis (fungal nail infection). Despite the many modern medications available, this method is still widely used.

  • Vinegar disrupts the life cycle of fungal spores and kills the pathogens. Dermatologists recommend using vinegar baths both as a treatment and a preventative measure.
  • Baking soda neutralizes acidity and helps restore pH balance, preventing further fungal growth.

By using this remedy twice a day, you can treat the condition without pharmaceutical drugs!

You’ll need:

  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 5 tablespoons baking soda
  • 3 liters of hot water

Preparation & Use:

  1. Pour hot water (around 50–60°C) into a basin and add 1 cup of apple cider vinegar.
  2. Let the solution cool slightly to about 40–45°C.
  3. Soak your feet in the solution for 15–20 minutes.
  4. After the bath, rinse your feet with clean water and dry them using a paper towel.
  5. One hour later, repeat the procedure — this time, add 5 tablespoons of baking soda to the mixture.

For fast results, it is recommended to do this bath multiple times a day.

The idea behind this method is simple: fungus cannot survive in an acidic environment, and baking soda prevents its further spread.

As you can see, this inexpensive, accessible, and effective remedy can be a great help in fighting this uncomfortable condition. It can also be used as a preventative measure.
