Plantain (Plantago) is one of the most powerful natural remedies available year-round. It has anti-inflammatory, wound-healing, hemostatic, diuretic, and hypotensive properties. It’s widely used to treat hypertension, atherosclerosis, and both acute and chronic respiratory conditions.

The juice and infusion made from its leaves are excellent expectorants, while the herb itself is effective in treating a variety of gastrointestinal disorders, including:

Plantain Syrup for Spastic Colitis

To prepare:

  • 1 kg fresh plantain leaves
  • 1 kg sugar

Instructions:

  1. Wash and dry the leaves thoroughly.
  2. Layer them in an enamel pot or glass jar, alternating every 4–5 layers of leaves with a layer of sugar.
  3. Store the mixture in a dark place for 3–4 weeks.
  4. A dark green-brown liquid will form. Strain and store in the refrigerator.
  5. Take 1 tablespoon, 3 times a day, 30 minutes before meals.

Plantain Juice with Honey


    1. Wash fresh plantain leaves thoroughly and extract the juice by chopping and pressing them.
    2. Mix the juice with an equal amount of honey.
    3. Simmer the mixture for 20 minutes.

    Use this remedy for gastritis, colitis, and intestinal cramps:
    Take 1 tablespoon, 3 times a day, 15–20 minutes before meals.
    Store in a tightly sealed container in a cool place.
    To preserve it for winter, add vodka in equal proportions.

    How My Mother Healed Her Lungs with Plantain

    • 500 grams of sugar
    • 400 grams of chopped plantain leaves
