Heart disease doesn’t always show warning signs immediately. A person might feel great and be active — and then suddenly experience a heart attack.

Obesity, bad habits, and a sedentary lifestyle are the main enemies of the cardiovascular system. But heart problems can also appear in people who are otherwise very health-conscious…

Common symptoms of cardiovascular disease include:

  • Fatigue
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Severe dizziness
  • Rapid heartbeat (over 100 beats per minute)
  • Tight or squeezing chest pain

Fortunately, there’s a simple test that can help you determine whether your heart is in good condition! I recently tried it myself – and I’m happy to report there’s nothing to worry about.

How to Check Your Heart’s Health

Sit on the floor and stretch your legs out in front of you, toes pointed up. Extend your arms and try to touch your toes.

If you can do this easily, it’s a good sign that your cardiovascular system is working efficiently and without undue stress – and heart disease is likely not an immediate concern for you!

If your body isn’t flexible enough, there’s a high chance you may already have some cardiovascular issues. The fact is, people with low flexibility often have stiff blood vessels. This is usually due to a lack of collagen, which is what keeps blood vessels elastic and youthful.

Stiffness and inactivity in the back and leg muscles are direct indicators that you may need to see a cardiologist. These muscles contain the same amount of collagen as your blood vessels, so they can be used as a marker for evaluating vascular health throughout the body.

Stay in good shape, and don’t forget to take care of your body — both inside and out. Your body will always give you signs of what it needs to stay well — you just have to listen and not ignore the small warnings.
