Is it possible to reduce a fever without medication? Yes – especially with natural, traditional methods that help the body cool down without side effects.

1. Remove Warm Clothing
Avoid covering yourself with blankets or wearing thick clothes — this allows the body to release excess heat.

2. Wipe the Body with a Damp Towel
Gently wipe the skin (not soak it) using a lukewarm, damp towel every 30 minutes, focusing on the neck, underarms, legs, and groin area.

3. Apply Cold Compresses
Place compresses on the forehead, armpits, back of the neck, liver area, and groin. These zones help reduce body temperature more effectively.

4. Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of fluids at body temperature. Water and herbal teas help prevent dehydration and cool the body from the inside.

5. Eat Citrus Fruits
Consume one grapefruit, half a lemon, or two oranges. These fruits are rich in vitamin C and support the immune system while gently lowering fever.

6. Ventilate the Room
Keep the air fresh and cool by regularly ventilating the room, avoiding direct exposure to cold air drafts.

Herbal Remedies to Lower Fever

Raspberry Stems or Dried Berries – Boil for 20–30 minutes until the tea turns dark red. Drink several doses throughout the day.

Linden Blossom Tea – Boil with apple peel, add honey, and drink 3 to 5 cups in a row while still hot.

Willow Bark – A natural source of salicylic acid (similar to aspirin). Boil 20g in 200ml of water, steep for 30 minutes. Take 1 tablespoon 5–6 times a day.

Blackcurrant Leaves, Elderflower, and Strawberry/Blackberry Leaves – Brew and consume as herbal tea for fever and inflammation relief.

Other effective herbs include:

  • Mint
  • Chamomile
  • Oregano
  • Centaury
  • Thyme (wild mint)

These plants support perspiration, detoxification, and natural immune response.

If your fever is below 38.5°C (101.3°F) and your condition is stable, these natural methods can be safe and effective. However, if symptoms worsen or the fever persists, consult a healthcare provider.
